Freedom Of Information

Under the Freedom of Information Act, it is the duty of every public authority, including town and parish councils, to produce and publish a method by which specific information is made available so that it can be easily identified and accessed by members of the public.

In keeping with the intentions of Embsay with Eastby Parish Council to maintain an open and transparent council, members enthusiastically approved and adopted a generic model of a mandatory publication scheme at a meeting of the Parish Council held on 11 December 2008. It was also agreed that it would regularly review the scheme and work towards providing those items of information on the scheme currently listed as being “in progress.” It would also ensure that as many items of information as possible listed on the Publications Scheme would be made available on the Parish Council website.
