Recent Achievements
- Joined local electors in successfully opposing a recent proposal from Craven District Council to regulate the use of the car park at Main Road, Embsay.
- Co-ordinated action to involve local young people in the creation of a youth shelter and the organisation of youth activities.
- Raised objections to a formal planning application from Yorkshire Water to erect a water pumping station on Kirk Lane, opposite St Mary’s Church, Eastby.
- Revived and helped reform the Bolland and Colton Charitable Trust for the awarding of small grants to local people who are in need, hardship or distress.
- Co-ordinated action with the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority to address a number of outstanding issues arising from the Planning Consent for the former Tannery site including the poor condition of the dams and the murky appearance of the pond water.
- Provided comments on a Craven District Council proposal for “alternate weekly” collection of residual and recyclable waste and new arrangements for domestic waste collection.
- Raised objections and presented a formal response to the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority objecting to three local sites having development potential for affordable homes in Embsay.
- Co-ordinated representation from Embsay Steam Railway to address a number of local concerns including the amount of engine tooting, the emission of black smoke, local parking problems and litter and received assurances that action would be taken to resolve the problems.
- Co-ordinated action for the installation of two experimental speed matrix signs in Embsay and Eastby by Craven District Council to gage whether more permanent signs might be required to curb excessive speeding
